I always enjoyed beer.
Even though, for my first twenty years of adulthood, it was pretty tough to find good beer.
Most city pubs, as I recall used to have the following selection of draft beers:
- A shit, weak lager
- A shit, weak bitter
- A stronger, “premium” lager. Nothing special, but got you drunk quicker.
- Guinness. Usually badly-kept, and, frankly, not very nice. This is what I usually drank.
Since then, times have changed so much. I didn’t realise how much things had improved until I was sat in a BrewDog bar, and overheard someone exclaim “Ooh, that’s a DELICIOUS beer!”
I immediately realised this was something I had never heard said when I was in my twenties.
Nothing close.
The best anyone could be expected to say was a non-committal “That’s a decent pint”.
However…
In case you hadn’t noticed, drinking good beer doesn’t come cheap.
Unless you learn to make it yourself. In your kitchen, shed or garage.
And that’s why I made this blog.
To help you to enjoy the quality beers you deserve, at a price that is fair.
While you’re discovering how easy it is, you’ll also be growing a greater appreciation for this old art.
You’ll also suddenly have access to a greater range of flavours than you ever had before, without having to go to a beer festival.
I strongly encourage you – nay, URGE you – to take the leap into what I believe is one of the most rewarding of pastimes.
And who knows, maybe one day you’ll make a career or business out of it?
